The electric guitar defined

The electric guitar is a musical instrument with metallic strings running across the length of the body and neck. Which when strummed, picked (Plectrum) or plucked vibrate across their length. Most electric guitars a string instrument have a semi or solid body. Acoustic guitars generally have a hollow body which acts as a sound box which increases the volume of the strings when played.

Specialist hand made guitars are made and repaired by luthiers. As opposed to mass produced factory guitars.

When resting your guitar ideally place it in a proper guitar stand or holder, however if you do not have these, place the guitar up right with the neck being gently supported at the end of the body. So there is no pressure on the neck. this takes away the pressure on the neck from the high tension of the strings to pull the guitar neck inwards and prevent neck warping. Keep the guitar directly away from strong sun light, a heat source and keep the instrument at a steady room temperature away from dampness or temperature extremes that can effect the wood and metal. Obviously keep it away from a thief's line of sight and danger where it might be accidentially knocked about.
